Take the "T" from Station Square to downtown to "Gateway Station". From there you can walk to Point State Park and Market Square.
There is no fee for using the "T" around the Pittsburgh.

From Point State Park, you can walk over the Three Rivers Heritage Trail (a pedestrian bridge that runs alongside the Fort Pitt Bridge) over the Allegheny River to North Shore Drive. Here you'll find restaurants such as The Foundry and Burgatory, along with breweries like Southern Tier and VooDoo Brewery. North Shore Drive is also accessible by the T as well. Walk back to Gateway Station and take the T to North Side Station. Once out of the station, turn right on West General Robinson Avenue. Make a quick left on Tony Dorsett Drive and follow this until you run into North Shore Drive. You will find Southern Tier on the corner on the right hand side of the street.
